CCTV “China News” Reported Heart-warming Stories of Cambodia's Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project
Date: 05/06/2020On April 28, “China News” of CCTV-4 reported the project of Cambodia's Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project undertaken by CRBC. The program delivered some heart-warming stories of the Project- While doing well in work resumption during epidemic prevention, the Project Department did not forget to care for its local employees. On the first day of lifting lockdown in Cambodia, the Project Department delivered materials and epidemic prevention supplies to local employees and their families.
In response to the escalated epidemic, the Cambodian government adopted emergency measures including canceling the Cambodian New Year Holiday and locking down the city. The General Contracting Manager Department of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project strengthened the prevention and control measures in an all-round way, strictly practiced the epidemic prevention details and set a lockdown.
HR assistant Lena did not make it home during the Cambodian New Year due to the lockdown. Just after the ban was lifted, Zhang Jun, a staff on behalf of the Project Department, accompanied Lena to go home and visit her parents, and brought them the urgently-needed medical masks and a month's life supplies including rice and oil. Lena and her parents were deeply moved by the warm-hearted help of the Project Department. Lena said, “Although I couldn’t go home, I feel very safe at the project site, and the Project Department has helped my family and saved us from panic."
Visiting and greeting local employees during the Cambodian New Year has been a routine of the Project Department, and it was delayed this year due to the epidemic. The Project Department, while keeping well its own anti-epidemic supplies and promoting production and construction in an orderly manner, also actively practiced its social responsibility; it donated a batch of anti-epidemic materials to relieve local shortage soon after learning about the needs, and helped local government deliver the materials to hospitals, schools and other institutions.
Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway is the first highway in Cambodia, connecting Phnom Penh City and Sihanoukville Port. The project is about 190km long, and is the most important strategic channel planned in Cambodia. It will effectively promote the local economic development and improve the local people's livelihood.
As the project that draws the attention of state heads of both China and Cambodia and was signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project is of great significance in implementing the “Belt and Road” Initiative and promoting the interconnection between China and ASEAN.
